Terms and Conditions

These terms and conditions apply to all services booked directly with Volta Madeira (Interminable Point, Lda) — by telephone, WhatsApp, e-mail or through our booking platform. Bookings made through third-party platforms (such as Viator, TripAdvisor, GetYourGuide, and others) are subject to the terms and conditions of those platforms. By making a direct booking, the client fully accepts the conditions set out herein. 

1. About the company 

Volta Madeira is the trading name of Interminable Point, Lda, a company licensed by Turismo de Portugal under RNAVT Nº 13305. The company provides private passenger transport services throughout the island of Madeira — private transfers and tours.

2. Transfers 

2.1 –The transfer service will be carried out as booked, except in cases of force majeure.

2.2 – Changes to the time or destination must be communicated at least 24 hours in advance by e-mail to voltamadeira@gmail.com. All changes are subject to availability and may result in a price adjustment.

2.3 – The driver will wait no longer than 15 minutes at the agreed pick-up point, unless otherwise stated in the booking confirmation.

     Clauses 2.4 to 2.7 apply exclusively to airport transfers.

2.4 – Flight status is monitored in real time. The service will be adjusted to the actual landing time.

2.5 – The driver will wait in the arrivals hall holding a sign with the name provided at the time of booking.

2.6 – The maximum waiting time is 60 minutes, counted from the registered landing time. After this period, and without contact from the client, the service will be considered a no-show and charged in full.

2.7 – For departure transfers, it is recommended to schedule the transfer with sufficient time before the flight.

3. Private tours 

3.1 – Volta Madeira offers private tours across the island of Madeira by vehicle, with drivers who have knowledge of the island.

3.2 – Tours include transport to and from the agreed pick-up point and stops at the points of interest included in the itinerary. Each stop has a set duration based on the total tour time — the client is responsible for adhering to the agreed times at each stop.

3.3 – The service does not include a certified tour guide, attraction entrance fees, meals or any other extra not specified in the booking.

3.4 – Passenger insurance covers transport inside the vehicle, in accordance with Portuguese law in force. Volta Madeira accepts no liability for accidents or incidents occurring outside the vehicle during stops.

3.5 – Volta Madeira reserves the right to refuse service to persons under the influence of alcohol, illicit substances or displaying inappropriate behaviour, with no right to a refund.

3.6 – Smoking is not permitted in the vehicles

4. Bookings and confirmation 

4.1 – A booking is confirmed upon verification of availability, receipt of payment and issue of written confirmation by Volta Madeira. Without written confirmation, the booking is not valid. If, following receipt of payment, it is not possible to confirm the service, the full amount will be refunded.

4.2 – To make a booking, the client must provide: full name, pick-up date and time, pick-up location, destination, number of passengers and flight number (where applicable). 

5. Prices 

5.1 – All prices include VAT at the applicable legal rate.

5.2 – The applicable price list is the one in force at the time of booking.

5.3 – Services carried out between 22:00 and 06:00 are subject to a night surcharge of 20% on the base price of the service.

5.4 – Volta Madeira reserves the right to update its prices. Bookings already confirmed in writing will not be affected by subsequent price changes.

6. Cancellations 

6.1 – A non-refundable booking fee of 10% is retained upon confirmation of the booking. This fee covers payment processing costs.

6.2 – Cancellations made 3 or fewer days before the service: the booking is entirely non-refundable.

6.3 – No-show (non-attendance without prior notice): the booking is entirely non-refundable.

6.4 – Eligible refunds are processed via the original payment method. Where payment was made by Multibanco or MBWay, the refund will be made by bank transfer.

6.5 – Flight diversion: the booking is treated as a no-show and clause 6.3 applies. The client must make a new booking, subject to availability and the prices in force at that time. This applies upon presentation of documentation issued by the airline.

6.6 – Flight cancellation by the airline: the client may rebook for a new date, subject to availability, with no right to a refund. This applies upon presentation of documentation issued by the airline.

6.7 – Force majeure situations not attributable to Volta Madeira will be assessed on a case-by-case basis, with any refund decision resting solely with Volta Madeira. 

7. Weather conditions

7.1 – Volta Madeira accepts no liability for adverse weather conditions or reduced visibility at points of interest.

7.2 – All services are subject to weather conditions. Volta Madeira reserves the right to alter, postpone or cancel any service on safety grounds, regardless of whether an official weather alert is in force. Changes to the itinerary do not entitle the client to a partial refund.

7.3 – Full cancellation of a service due to adverse weather occurs in the event of an orange or red rainfall alert, or a red wind alert, issued by the competent authorities.

7.4 – In the event of full cancellation due to adverse weather, the service will be rescheduled or, where this is not possible, refunded. The decision rests solely with Volta Madeira.

8. Liability 

8.1 – Volta Madeira holds the compulsory civil liability insurance for passenger transport, in accordance with Portuguese law in force.

8.2 – The company accepts no liability for delays caused by traffic conditions, roadworks, third-party accidents or other force majeure situations.

8.3 – The company accepts no liability for items lost or left behind in the vehicles.

8.4 – Should a passenger cause damage or soiling requiring specialist cleaning to any vehicle used in the provision of Volta Madeira's services, the actual costs of repair or cleaning will be charged. 

9. Amendments to these terms 

Volta Madeira reserves the right to update these terms and conditions at any time. Amendments take effect from the date of publication. Bookings already confirmed in writing are not affected by amendments made after the confirmation.

10. Privacy 

Personal data collected is used solely for the provision of the service, in accordance with the GDPR (EU Regulation 2016/679), and is not shared with third parties.

11. Complaints 

Complaints must be submitted in writing to voltamadeira@gmail.com within 7 working days of the service being carried out. The client may also use the Portuguese Electronic Complaints Book (Livro de Reclamações Eletrónico) at www.livroreclamacoes.pt.
